Rosemary Ostfeld grew up in East Lyme, Connecticut and is the founder of Healthy PlanEat and a Visiting Assistant Professor at Wesleyan University where she teaches in the College of the Environment and Patricelli Center for Social Entrepreneurship. Rosemary completed a BA/MA in Biology and Earth and Environmental Sciences at Wesleyan University, an MPhil in Environmental Policy, and a PhD in Land Economy at the University of Cambridge in England where she was a Cambridge Trust Scholar. She has completed research on water resources, sustainable agriculture and food systems, renewable energy, and climate policy. She is a National Geographic Explorer and has been interviewed as an expert on environmental sustainability issues by the BBC, WebMD, and CarbonBrief. Her small business, Healthy PlanEat, helps farmers using sustainable growing practices sell their food directly to local customers. Healthy PlanEat's mission is to help increase access to fresh, sustainably grown, local food so people can have a healthy and sustainable diet.
