CAMPAIGN
Through the Campaigns Committee, a Selection Committee will recruit, educate and support potential candidates who wish to serve the community of East Lyme. Boards and Commissions develop vacancies over time and the Selection Committee works to match candidates with their skill sets and to prepare them for a best-fit role in serving the town in accordance with the East Lyme Town Charter.
Additionally, this committee tracks current issues, responses to issues, and coordinates campaigns for the slate of East Lyme Democratic Party candidates.
Fundraising
This group is responsible for raising funds for both the DTC and candidates through social events, merchandise sales, and solicitations.
OUTREACH
Organizing events that promote Democratic identity and values, connect us to the community and other DTCs, and promote civic engagement — the Outreach team is responsible for activities such as town clean ups, networking (ie: Restaurant Week dining, picnics), and participation in events like Celebrate East Lyme, the Light Parade, and the Memorial Day Parade.
Meetings are the second Thursday of the month most often at 6:30 pm — though there are ways for interested people to be involved if that time does not work.
ARE YOU 15-35 Years of age?
Want to network, learn more about your town, and take on leadership roles on local issues? The ELDTC is considering a new Subcommittee (or two) for younger Dems and to forge ties to CT Young Dems, our state chapter of Young Dems of America. Young parents, newlyweds, high school & college students, ‘twenty-something’ area workers, all, often have unique concerns or constraints to political participation. The ELDTC recognizes this and wants to assist with your greater involvement — whether via existing Committees or new avenues. Please reach out!
GOVERNANCE
In addition to participating in the candidate selection process, the Governance Committee also develops communication standards and ELDTC processes/best practices.
