Dr. Elizabeth Allen, PhD, LCSW, received her MSW and PhD from UConn School of Social Work. She is a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) with extensive clinical experience in mental health, substance abuse, complex-trauma and forensic settings. She worked for 20+ years as a Clinical Social Worker with justice-involved women at York Correctional Institute. She is an adjunct professor at several universities throughout Connecticut and opened her own clinical and consulting business in January 2019 to assist returning citizens in New London County in successfully rebuilding their lives after addiction and/or involvement with the criminal justice system. Research interest and publications in peer-reviewed journals focus on justice-involved woman, substance abuse and behavioral health, racial and gender disparities within the criminal legal system, desistance and community reintegration, desistance and the social work profession and empowerment clinical practice with justice-involved populations.
Nickie Padilla grew up in East Lyme and returned to raise her family in the town she loves. She has two children who attend ELPS. She has been an educator for the past 18 years with a variety of experiences including public school Language Arts teacher, ELL teacher, Holocaust Education coordinator, and adjunct professor. She is one of the founders and directors of SCORE, Southeastern Connecticut Organization for Racial Equity and is currently pursuing her MFA in Writing.
Tariko Satterfield Sr. travels to schools, colleges, businesses, and communities as a speaker and facilitator of conversations on race and dismantling racism. In 2020 Tariko was one of the many voices called upon to speak and share perspective on diversity, equity, and inclusion. He also hosted webinars and panel discussions on Dismantling Racism in America, Dismantling Racism in Education, Dismantling Racism in the Church, and Dismantling Racism in Education Student Edition. Tariko speaks with power, certainty, and ignites the heart to act NOW.
